OUR STORY
We are Sydney and Kassi. And we are hairstylists.Together we have over two decades of experience with extensions. We’ve worn them all, and we’ve installed them all. With so many amazing extension brands out there, we felt there was still something missing. We both agreed that there was one big issue that was eating up way too much of our precious time. We always had to custom color extensions! Or we had to buy multiple bags of hair to get a blend of colors that matched our guest’s hair (not to mention fork over the cost difference!).So we set out to create a line that was directed toward stylists. We began searching for manufacturers in early 2016. We tested dozens of manufacturers. We didn’t just order hair; we wore it ourselves. We wanted to make sure it would meet the high standard of quality we know stylists need. After years of testing, wearing, defeat, and disappointment, we finally found hair that met our expectations. The quality is everything we had been looking for and, more importantly, is ETHICALLY sourced. As stylists, our time is precious. We know you are bosses, parents, artists, therapists, and housekeepers. We don’t believe your time should be spent having custom color extensions for every guest. Our goal is to make the stylist’s life a little easier by assisting you in giving your guest a more customized extension experience without the time and effort of custom coloring. Each weft is sold individually, making it easy to create an organic, beautiful result that matches your guest’s hair perfectly. And to top it all off, we don’t think you should have to pay outrageous shipping costs either! So all our products come with FREE standard shipping within the US.Thank you for supporting and joining us in our adventure in supporting fellow stylists.
MEET SYDNEY
In 6th grade we had a career day at school. We got to dress up as what we wanted to be when we grow up. I went as a hairstylist. "How do you dress a 11 year old up as a hairstylist?" you ask. Stick a blowdryer and curling iron in her backpack and backcomb her hair to make her six inches taller (it was 1999, okay?). So to say it's in my blood would be a safe bet.I attended hair school right after high school and never once regretted not attending "college." I first learned extensions in hair school, and was thrilled with the opportunity of new information to take in as an eager student. This experience opened the doors to a whole new world for me: The Extension World. I learned right then and there the levels of services we can provide. I knew I wanted to offer this type of service and luxury to my clients one day.Did it happen immediately? Definitely not. In the beginning I had some work that one could call..... subpar. Trial and error over and over again. Lots of failures and mishaps. Lots of disappointment. Lots of learning. And all of that has gotten me to where I am today. I'm so thankful to all those failures and how they have pushed me to work that much harder to become the woman I am today. My passion/s in the industry have morphed over the years. There was a moment in my career that was kind of the "shift" of mindset for me. I had been working behind the chair for maybe 4 years out of school, when I was tasked with teaching a new stylist a certain haircut. During this session, and educator pulled me aside and said "Why are you not teaching? You have such a gift for it." That made such an impact on me and left a little seed in the back of my mind (So Melissa, if you ever read this, THANK YOU for taking the time to compliment me because I might not be where I am today if it weren't for that moment). Over the years that seed grew until in 2019 I mustered up the courage to ask my boss/friend if I could teach my very first class in her salon. There, a new passion was born: educating.I have had the opportunity to grow that skill of educating while teaching multiple classes over the last few years with some friends and co-workers. And we at Scottie + Ashton have lots more big plans with education coming at you!I'm so blessed to have two super cute kiddos and one stellar husband. I'm thrilled to get to teach my kids that women are powerful, can be amazing mamas and run successful businesses all while putting dinner on the table too (sometimes by Door Dash, but that's neither here nor there).
